Brittany Snow is embracing the "challenge" of having a very busy year.
Over the past three months, the actress, 39, has had three major TV projects debut: Netflix's The Hunting Wives and The Beast in Me and Hulu's Murdaugh: Death in the Family. While chatting with PEOPLE exclusively at a special New York City screening of The Beast in Me on Wednesday, Nov. 5, Snow said taking on the three back-to-back series has been a learning experience.
"This year has just been one of those years where I challenge myself, and sometimes I miss and sometimes I win, and I get to learn from it all," she explains, adding, "That's really exciting for me."
As for her role in the mystery thriller The Beast in Me, Snow says, "I'm really proud of this one."
The miniseries focuses on acclaimed author Aggie Wiggs (Claire Danes), who stops writing and steps away from public life following the death of her young son. She then finds "an unlikely subject for a new book when the house next door is bought by Nile Jarvis (Matthew Rhys), a famed and formidable real estate mogul who was once the prime suspect in his wife’s disappearance," per a synopsis.

The cast also includes Natalie Morales, Kate Burton, Jonathan Banks and Will Brill.
Snow — who plays Nile's wife, Nina — tells PEOPLE that she was thrilled to work with actors of such caliber whom she's long admired.
"I think this was such a departure for me in terms of getting to be a part of a show where I really admired everyone and being able to be in the same community and the same room with some people that I grew up loving and holding my own," she says.
"I think I'm really proud of myself for that. I love these people involved," she adds.

While Snow is having a standout year in her career, she previously opened up to PEOPLE about making the difficult decision to take two years off from acting prior to her role in 2011's Pitch Perfect in order to focus on her mental health. The actress, who was 23 at the time, recalled worrying that she might never work again.
“During that time, I had to learn how to handle my anxiety and my nerves," she said. "I'm sort of a nervous person by nature, and acting is not always conducive for that, in terms of walking into an audition."
Snow continued: "I didn't think I was ever going to work again because I felt like I had to restart my career. But that time off was hugely important for me to find out who I was. It was a restart, in a way, that gave me a clear path forward."
She told PEOPLE that her idea of "success" has evolved since the early days of her career, which began at age 12 with a role in the CBS soap Guiding Light.

"I think my idea of success when I was younger was this sort of one-track mind of needing to be Julia Roberts because as a 10-year-old girl, everyone wants to be Julia Roberts," she explained. "I think as I've gotten older, I've realized that there's so many different forms of success. Success, to me, is the fact that I'm still doing this, and I love it even more now. I remind myself all the time that I didn't give up."
The Beast in Me will be available to stream on Netflix on Nov. 13.
