The Beach Boys have welcomed a surprising new touring memberāand the path that led him there sounds almost too perfect to be real.
Musician Chris Cron, known online for his intricate vocal harmony breakdown videos of all your favorite songs from the 60s, 70s and 80s, announced Friday, March 6, that he has officially joined the legendary bandās touring lineup.

Cron shared the news in a video posted to social media.
āIām Chris Cron, and I am the newest touring member of the Beach Boys,ā he said in the clip. āYeah, I donāt even believe it, saying it right now.ā
For Cron, the moment feels surrealāespecially considering how it all started.
According to the singer, he began posting Beach Boysāinspired content online simply because he loved the music.

āI had no idea when I started posting Beach Boysācentered content a few years ago,ā Cron said. āIt was just for fun. It was just because I liked it⦠and you seemed to like it, and so I just kept doing it. And it has led to this.ā
Cronās videos often feature him building the bandās famously complex harmonies one vocal part at a time, layering multiple tracks until the full sound comes together, earning him a following among musicians and Beach Boys fans alike.
The opportunity eventually led to a life-changing invitation when he was asked to perform with them back in October 2025. And now he's an official member.

Cron also thanked his wife, Libby, for supporting his musical journey.

Cron previously performed with the tribute group Pet Sounds Live, where he became known for faithfully recreating the intricate harmonies that helped define the Beach Boysā āCalifornia sound.ā
Now, heās taking that passion directly to the stage with the band itself.

āI canāt wait to see you all out on the road,ā Cron said. āI hope you have a wonderful, amazing weekend.ā
Formed in 1961 in Hawthorne, California, the Beach Boys became one of the most influential pop groups in music history, known for lush vocal arrangements and classic hits like "Good Vibrations," "California Girls," and "Wouldnāt It Be Nice."
For Cron, the journey from posting harmony videos online to touring with the band that inspired them still feels hard to believe.
āWhat a wild ride,ā he wrote alongside his announcement.
