David Allan Coe's daughter is speaking out after the controversial musician's death.
Tanya Montana Coe, who is also a musician, said that nobody from her father's inner circle or team contacted her about the singer's death at 86 on Wednesday.
"Waking up to the news that your dad has died and not being given the opportunity to see him one last time is a hell I wouldn't wish on my worst enemy," she wrote on Facebook. "If anyone finds out about any funeral arrangements, please let me know as I would like to be at my dad's funeral."

In a follow-up post, Tanya reflected on her relationship with her father.
"It's difficult to read people's hurtful comments," she began. "It's never been easy to know how to word the time and distance that has gone by, I think I thought 'estrangement' was the right word to use when you aren't trying to place blame on either party or anyone in particular which I have tried to be careful to do."

The singer went on to explain how her use of the word "estrangement" has been misinterpreted by outsiders. "I didn't realize that most people think estrangement means that I chose to cut off my dad," she said. "That is the opposite of the truth and I regret ever having used that word now."
Tanya then clarified how she and her father lost contact. "I should have said my dad stopped reaching out, stopped seeing me when I would come to shows and made it impossible for me to ever reach him despite my many efforts all through the years," she said. "I know why he chose that route and it really doesn't have anything to do with me or our love for one another."

The musician also responded to the idea that her relationship with her father deteriorated over finances. "For people saying that anything with any of his children could have to do with us being upset about money, you genuinely have no idea," she wrote. "My dad has 8 children that I am aware of and we were all cut off from contact, that should tell you something. We are grieving. We have been grieving. Please be respectful and kind."
She went on to condemn the hurtful comments that she and her siblings have received since her father's death. "I truly believe that if my dad were here and in his right mind and saw the way some of his fans are talking to his children, he would go off," she opined. "Our dad is dead, we are processing, we all loved him deeply as any child loves their parents."

David Allan Coe rose to prominence in the 1970s as part of the outlaw country movement. When he opened for Kid Rock's tour in 2000, *The New York Times* described his early catalog as being "among the most racist, misogynist, homophobic and obscene songs recorded by a popular songwriter." The singer pushed back on that evaluation in subsequent years.
