Eddie Murphy's son Eric and Martin Lawrence's daughter Jasmin recently welcomed a baby girl together.
The couple, who tied the knot in May 2025, announced their pregnancy in February.
Murphy revealed the baby's name and explained why he won't be offering the new parents any advice about raising a kid.
It's official: Eddie Murphy and Martin Lawrence now share a grandchild.
Murphy's son Eric and Lawrence's daughter Jasmin have welcomed their first baby together. The Coming 2 America star, 65, confirmed the happy news while walking the red carpet ahead of the American Film Institute Achievement Award Ceremony on Saturday, which saw him honored with several tributes from friends and past costars.
Lawrence was among those who celebrated his Life costar's life and career from the L.A. stage — so it only made sense for Murphy to call attention to their latest milestone as in-laws.
"They just had a baby girl," Murphy told E! News when asked about his son and Lawrence's daughter, who got married in May 2025. "They just had her two weeks ago, or a week ago."
He then revealed the baby girl's name: "Ari. Ari Skye."

As for whether he has been gifting the new parents with advice about raising kids — Murphy has 10 children — the actor replied that parenting is something that "you don't give advice" about.
"You know, your kids don't go by your advice. Your kids go by the example you set. They watch you," he said. "The stuff you be saying, they don't even pay that s--- no mind. They watch and see what you do. So, I don't give a lot of advice."
Eric and Jasmin began dating in 2021 and announced their engagement three years later.

In 2022, Lawrence briefly commented on his daughter's relationship, telling late-night host Jimmy Kimmel, "We kind of just stay out of their business and let them do their own thing and respect their thing."
But when Kimmel brought up the possibility of a future wedding, he quipped, "I'm gonna try to get Eddie to pay for it."
Murphy wasn't particularly enthusiastic about that proposal and a year later he told ETalk, "No, no, no, no, no. That's not how it goes. My daughter just got married, and I had to pay. I really had to pay. And you have to do the same, Martin. Don't try to switch it up, don't try to change no s---, do no Hollywood switch. You're paying for the wedding. If it goes down, Martin is paying. And the wedding better be wonderful."

In the end, Eric and Jasmin wed last year in a small church wedding, per Murphy.
In February 2026, news arrived that the couple were expecting their first baby together. They announced via an Instagram photoshoot which saw Jasmin don a stunning white dress that showed off her baby bump. Eric was photographed resting his head on her pregnant belly and facing the camera, as Jasmin smiled down at him.
"Thank you Jesus for the greatest gift," the couple wrote in their joint caption.

In March, they shared photographs from their baby shower, which Lawrence, Murphy, and their families attended. "The most beautiful and special celebration for our baby girl," they captioned the carousel of photos. "Thank you to our parents and everyone that made this day so magical! Ari Skye Murphy, you are SO loved already!!"
