While Kate Middleton was attending Easter Sunday service with the royal family in Windsor, her brother James was celebrating the holiday at home with his wife, son, and their parents.
On Instagram, James shared a series of photos from the holiday, writing, “Many of you have been asking if I am ok. I have been absent from social media for a while. The truth is, this Lent I decided to give up social media (and it was wonderful).” He added, “Sometimes we don’t fully realise the pressure social media puts on us until we take a step back. If I could offer one piece of advice for 2026, it would be to try it yourself; a week, a month, or even longer…”

He concluded, “Alizée, Inigo, the dogs, and I are wishing you all a very Happy Easter and thank you for checking in on me,” with a red heart emoji. In the series of pictures, his son, Inigio, and their dogs mainly feature. His mom, Carole Middleton, appears in the final slide, reading The Tale of Benjamin Bunny, a Peter Rabbit book, to Inigo. While Carole and her husband Michael rarely appear in public and do not have any social media accounts, in February, they stepped out to attend the Cheltenham Festival—and Carole wore her daughter Kate’s hat for the occasion.

In 2024, James published a memoir about his mental health struggles and his late therapy dog Ella. “The love and support I’ve had from my family has been more than I can ever wish for with writing of it; it's something that they know I needed to do,” he told Town & Country at the time. He added, “They were delighted for me to be at a point where I felt I could conclude a chapter of my life—it is not just about a dog that died, or a dog that saved my life, it’s about the bigger picture of that closure, of understanding that journey I’d been on. There was recognition on how far I’d come and the support, they know how much Ella meant to me and understood that it was something I needed to do as much as anything. Throughout it all, they have been really supportive, which is fantastic.”
