Last week, on a night that the Seattle Seahawks should have started to get some notice for how well they're playing this season, their impressive win was completely overshadowed by Jayden Daniels' injury.
That might be fine with the Seahawks, though they're probably not going to stay under the radar much longer.
The Seahawks delivered a statement on Sunday, but we'll see how many people were listening. Seattle put forth yet another piece of evidence that it is one of the best teams in the NFL and a legitimate Super Bowl contender in a 44-22 drubbing of the Arizona Cardinals. The Cardinals, who are 3-6, aren't a great team. But he ease in which the Seahawks dominated them was impressive. Seattle led 35-0 before the halfway point of the second quarter and cruised to a win after that. Perhaps the Cardinals scoring a few times in the second half to make the score look better after the Seahawks let their foot off the gas will lead to another week of Seattle being underrated.
Being underrated is nothing new for Seattle. The Seahawks have been impressive for most of the season. Sam Darnold has played at a high level. The offense around him has been very good. The defense has made a huge improvement in head coach Mike Macdonald's second season in Seattle. The Seahawks are 7-2, and both of their losses came in the final two minutes of competitive games. They'll have a chance next week to take sole possession of first place in the NFC West when they meet the 7-2 Los Angeles Rams in a huge matchup.
Everything has been going quite well for the Seahawks, while many other teams are getting a lot more attention.
Seahawks storm out to huge lead
The Cardinals looked pretty good in Week 9 as they won at the Cowboys. Then they were absolutely blown out by the Seahawks before the first quarter was even over.
The Seahawks had five touchdowns and only three offensive possessions in the first 22 minutes of the game. They scored a touchdown on all three possessions, and added a pair of defensive touchdowns.
DeMarcus Lawrence got both touchdowns. The Seahawks defensive end got a scoop-and-score fumble recovery on nearly identical plays. Pressure got to Jacoby Brissett, who had the ball knocked loose and each time Lawrence was in the right spot at the right time.

It's fairly rare to see an NFL team take a 35-point lead, and it's very difficult to pull it off before the middle of the second quarter. But the Seahawks are operating at a very high level lately.
Seattle lost some focus in the second half and didn't continue to steamroll the Cardinals. That might have made the score look a little better for Arizona but it was clear from the first half how much better Seattle was.
Seattle off to a hot start this season
The Seahawks are very close to being undefeated. In Week 1 they led the San Francisco 49ers with less than two minutes to go, but the 49ers got a touchdown pass and then their defense forced a turnover to win it. In Week 5 against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, the Seahawks led 35-28 until Tampa Bay scored with 1:08 to go, got an interception on a deflected pass and then the Bucs won it on a field goal as time expired.
Those are Seattle's only two losses this season. Both came against winning teams and they led both in at the two-minute warning. A couple breaks and they might be 9-0.
The Seahawks pass the eye test as well. Darnold has had a great encore to his breakout season with the Vikings last season. Jaxon Smith-Njigba has been the most productive receiver in teh NFL this season. Acquiring receiver Rashid Shaheed from the Saints should work out well. The defense isn't going anywhere.
The Seahawks' biggest problem is their division. The Rams keep winning. The 49ers are banged up but still a capable team. But the Seahawks are right there with them, and every other elite team in the NFL.
