Ultimately, the coaches did not turn for him — but he thanked them for their "honesty"

Does Bowen Yang have what it takes to be on The Voice?

During the Monday, Nov. 3 episode of the singing competition show, coaches Michael Bublé, Reba McEntire and Niall Horan witnessed an impromptu audition by the actor and comedian.

It all started when they stumbled into an ethereal set and Horan, 32, asked: "Reba, are you sure this is The Voice stage?"

"It smells different," the Canadian crooner, 50, added.

Then, Yang, 34, emerged from the set and pointed out the "Sway" singer's "good nose."

"Welcome to Oz," Yang said, referencing the magical land and setting of Wicked.

"It's like, Wicked awesome," the "Home" singer responded, as McEntire, 70, added: "I'm sorry, I think we took a wrong turn. Perhaps you can guide us in the right direction?"

Yang interrupted the country singer and said, "No, no Reebs. Our two worlds have collided so that I can realize my lifelong dream of auditioning for you all. So if you wouldn't mind, please turn around."

He added as the coaches turned around, "I can't have you looking at me. Especially you, Niall. I can feel your smolder."

The comedian auditioned by singing a few lines from Wicked's "For Good" — and the coaches remained turned.

"Wow, no chair turns," he said after he finished singing, causing the coaches to apologize.

McEntre said she liked his song choice — but whispered to Horan that her hit song "Fancy" would've "been a better choice."

When Yang asked for Bublé's opinion, the coach said his "button was broken."

"Well, I appreciate your honesty. Just know that I'll never get over this," he said.

When the coaches said they needed to leave to get to the Knockouts, Yang offered himself up for a different role on The Voice.

"I am available to mega mentor. Just putting that out there," he said.

The Wicked and The Voice crossover comes weeks ahead of the premiere of Wicked: For Good, where Yang will reprise his role as Pfannee.

The Voice airs Mondays at 8 p.m. ET on NBC.
